My Story & Philosophy

I started working with wood alongside my father in our garage at a young age. Growing up, I was lucky to train with master woodworker, Alex Zeller. These two men instilled within me a deep passion for woodworking. After 20 years as a journeyman meat cutter, I hung up my knives and started Shangri-Log Woodworks. In the years since, I have continued to hone my craft and the wildlife around me in Montana has inspired me to add that subject matter to my current collection. I also began taking advantage of ready access to vintage wood in this area which I have been incorporating into small furniture. Working with wood that is 80-100 years old presents certain challenges, but results in wood with a glowing butterscotch color that can't be replicated with stains.

My puzzles are in private collections in Belgium, Ecuador, Germany, Italy, California, Montana, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to share my passion with you.
